When and how will I receive my membership cards?
Membership cards will be mailed to you. It typically takes two weeks to receive your cards.

Can I visit the Museum without my membership cards?
You check in with your photo ID so no membership card is necessary. You do want to keep your membership card to access other ASTC institutions when you travel.

How do I receive free or discounted admission at other ASTC and AZA institutions?
You must present your current membership card and photo ID to receive free or reduced admission. Reciprocal benefits vary so be sure to check the ASTC Passport Program or AZA Reciprocity* for rules. We recommend checking the list, then calling the zoo, aquarium, or science center to learn their current policies before you visit.

I renewed my membership before the expiration date. How do I make sure I get my extra month?
There is nothing extra you need to do other than renewing. We will add the extra month when we generate your new membership cards.

I have a nanny/ grandparent who cares for my children. Can they take my children to the Museum without me?
You will need to add them as an authorized user to the account. This can be done in person at the front desk or by calling 919.220.5429 x324. The authorized user will then present a photo ID to access the Museum.

Who can I bring in on my membership?
As long as one of the cardholders is present, you can bring in whoever you want up to the level of your membership. (i.e. Explorer 6 = cardholder + 5 guests)

Who can be a cardholder?
Each membership can have up to two cardholders. All cardholders must be adults and the two cardholders must both reside in the same household.

I purchased a gift membership. Now what?
If the membership was purchased at the front desk, you would have been given a gift voucher at the time of purchase. If the membership was purchased over the phone or online, a gift voucher will be mailed to either you or the recipient (whichever you chose). This will be mailed out within a week of purchase. All gift membership vouchers are sent via US Postal Service and delivery before Dec. 25 is not guaranteed. Purchases made after 11:59pm on Wednesday, Dec. 21 will be mailed after Christmas. The gift recipient has a year from purchase to redeem the membership.

How do I redeem my gift membership?
The gift recipient can redeem the membership at any time by either presenting the gift voucher or photo ID at the front desk, or by calling our Membership Office at 919.220.5429 x324. The membership expiration date will be set a year from redemption.

How do I replace my membership card?
For any misplaced cards, we charge a $5 reprinting fee. This can be done at the front desk or by calling the Membership Office at 919.220.5429 x 324.

Is the membership tax deductible?
Membership dues are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Our tax ID is 56-0938434.
