Join us as we host a unique forum-style event!

Mercury Meeting Room
from 8:30am—5pm

Sea level rise and frequent droughts have had a significant impact on North Carolina's environment and communities. In this forum, we'll explore the impact these hazards have on our state, and also talk about possible solutions for today, tomorrow, and our future.

Participants will join a facilitated group and role-play situations where they are decision makers in a town directly afflicted by severe drought or sea level rise. Facilitators and expert scientists will help to educate the group on the effects and dangers, as well as possible solutions. Groups will then practice empathizing with stakeholders, propose ways to solve these problems, manage budgets, and share about their decision-making process with their peers, experts in the resilience field, and the public sector. The values, perspectives, and outcomes will help to shape the ongoing dialogue over how we build climate resilience in our state.

As an additional bonus, we will compensate you for your time! For helping us with this forum, you'll receive a $50 Visa Gift Card, free breakfast and lunch, and two free passes to return to the museum and visit another day.

Participants must be 18 or older (sorry, no children). Registration for this event is required, and seats are limited. (Applying does not guarantee participation. We will email applicants to inform them of their status.)
