Join the the Museum of Life and Science, the North Carolina Fossil Club, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and scientists from the Smithsonian Institute in an event that’s a real blast from the past!
Go back in time to our Fossil Pit – you might just find real fossils from the Miocene and Pliocene epochs! We’ll have scientists available in the main Museum building to help you identify anything you’ve found before, or anything you find in our dig pit.
In the Mercury Meeting Room you’ll be able to interact with paleontologists and citizen scientists who love dinosaurs as much as you do. You can talk about how to start your fossil collection, how to identify what you’ve already found, and how to dig in to paleontology as a science.
But there’s more – check out fossils on display that range from 65 million to 500 million years old! Starting at 10am you can participate in an hourly auction for one of the Fossil Club’s Megaladon teeth, or explore Appalachian State’s unbelievable Geobago – the university’s mobile science RV fully stocked with experiments.
This is the perfect event for the dinosaur fanatic in you. Our Fossil Fair is going to be a roaring good time for dino-lovers of every age. Stop by and experience a whole new side of fossil collecting!
