Starting mid-July, you may notice construction work across the street near our "southside" parking area.
Here's some information on what's going on.
What’s with all the construction? Is the parking deck still open?
We’re adding new classrooms on our southside campus. While you may see signs of construction, impact on your visit should be minimal. Only a few parking spaces are impacted and access to our Woodlands classroom will be by a gravel path next to the southside restroom.
The parking deck is open as normal. For the safety of our visitors, we ask all pedestrians to exit the deck via the elevator or stairs. Tip: Access to the museum is easiest from the first floor of the parking deck.
Why is the Museum doing this?
The two new classrooms will provide additional summer camp, education programming, and rental spaces on campus. They will also free up space in the Main Museum building for new future exhibits.
How long will this take?
We anticipate construction will continue through late 2019. Some areas may be reopened earlier or access may change over the project's timeline.
How will this impact camp drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off and pick-up should not be impacted by the construction. Campers should still be dropped off in the main building, and those campers picked up at 3:00 will still be using our curbside pick-up line in the southside parking lot. For the safety of our campers and staff, there will be no construction vehicles moving through the area during curbside pick-up. As always, if your camper is arriving late or leaving early, please head to our camp headquarters in the main building rather than going straight to their classroom.
