Sensory Friendly Science Friday: Night Under the Stars

02/07/2020, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

5 General Public, Free for Museum Members map

Join us Friday, February 7, for a night of sensory friendly science fun! The Museum will host special evening hours in our Main Building for children and adults with sensory sensitivities. Enjoy all of our indoor exhibits in a sensory friendly environment with support from Museum and UNC TEACCH Autism Program staff and volunteers. Special community partners, like Frog Hollow Outdoors, will be on site to share information about their sensory friendly outdoor opportunities. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will share telescope viewing of the night sky on our Plaza.

Also included in Under the Stars:

  • Visit Star Lab, a portable planetarium, and view the night sky in the comfort of the indoors.
  • Come to The Lab (second floor) for Marshmallow Science and make your own s’mores.
  • Join a Museum Educator for a quiet encounter with a live nocturnal animal.
  • Learn more about the Museum’s sensory friendly birthday parties.

All exhibits and experiences are modified and special resources are available in advance or at the Museum to support and enhance your visit.
