Prism: A Celebration of Pride in STEM

June 17

10 am – 3 pm

Included with admission

Join the Museum of Life and Science for our Pride month event! All are welcome to explore our 84-acre campus as we celebrate diversity in our community and the science community at large.

Activities include:

  • Storytime, art activities, and book giveaways (while supplies last) with The Rainbow Collective for Change and The Wonder Lab at 10:30 am and 11:30 am
  • Find the rainbows through campus with our special event scavenger hunt.
  • Make your own pronoun, pride, or Museum button, and use Chalk for Justice on our new outdoor plaza!
  • Meet LGBT+ and allied scientists from around the Triangle and learn all about their work with Eco-vate 3-D printing and Duke Child Studies!
  • Community connections with the LGTBQ Center of Durham, the Pauli Murray Center, Durham Queer Sports, iNSIDEoUT, and more!
  • Last, but certainly not least, explore Science with Stormie! Meet Durham Drag Queen and science educator Stormie Daie from 1pm-3pm as she leads our pint-sized Pride Parade at 1pm, a special science exploration in the Lab at 1:30pm, and a Storytime and musical number at 2:30pm. This Storytime will feature projected pages from the book, so everyone can get a good view of the experience. Stormie Daie welcomes photo opportunities, so please feel free to ask for a selfie!
