Join us for Teen Science Cafe! Explore the wonders of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)! Connect with a STEM professional, hear about their exciting career, enjoy some free snacks, and dive into a fun, hands-on activity. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your friends for a chill, engaging evening of discovery and connection.

Interested in a career in STEM? Want to learn more from an expert in our community? Join us at the Museum of Life and Science for a Teen Science Café! Enjoy food and snacks, and meet other teens who are also interested in STEM! This month, we will meet several local scientists in the biotechnology fields! Join us as we learn more about what jobs in biotech look like, try your hand at gel electrophoresis, and explore the process of data recording in research. It’s the perfect mix of learning, food, and fun. Don’t miss out – come curious, leave inspired!

Liz Marie Albertorio-Sáez: Liz Albertorio-Sáez is a Puerto Rican scientist and educator based in Durham. At BioAgilytix she helps validate cell-based assays that evaluate candidate therapeutics. Beyond her work she partners with museums, libraries, and schools to deliver low-cost, hands-on biology programs that make complex topics (such as genetics and epigenetics) clear and engaging.

Maddi Roth: Maddi is a Ph.D. Student at UNC-Chapel Hill studying the relationship between neuroimmune signaling and binge drinking behavior. She is passionate about STEM outreach, teaching, and mentoring, and hopes to one day become a professor. In her free time, Maddi likes to spend time outside and pamper her cat, Freya.

Christina Sztukowski: Christina is a local Durham scientist who works as a Senior Associate Scientist at Life Edit Therapeutics, where she focuses on next-generation gene editing technologies and therapeutics. She is starting to do more outreach activities to share her knowledge and give back to the community. When she is not in the lab, you can find her powerlifting or at a local concert!

Dr. Christopher Eubanks: Chris is a PhD chemist raised in North Carolina. He works at KBI Biopharma as a Project Lead Scientist, and leads a group of analysts focused on characterizing and verifying the stability of medicines currently on the market. In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and pets and learning about history, science, and trivia.
