Botanical Still Life Drawing

February 28

2 – 4 pm

We know that spending time with nature, even indoors, can improve our mood and refresh our concentration. In this class we will immerse ourselves in the study of plants while learning essential techniques for drawing from direct observation. Geared towards beginners and those wanting to refresh their skills, we will review drawing basics including composition, line, shape and value. Join us for a day of creativity and artistic growth.

Oami Powers is a visual artist based in North Carolina whose work explores themes of memory, nostalgia, grief, and place. Raised in California and New Zealand, her experiences of the natural world deeply influence her practice.

Her work has been shown in solo and juried group exhibitions nationwide, and has been acquired for collections including Duke Energy and the City of Rocky Mount. Powers has refined her craft through workshops at Penland School of Craft, Anderson Ranch, and with artist Cristina Cordova.
