AfterHours: Science of Fear

Explore the science behind all things fearful, with chilling tracks from DJ Damien Maass and strolling magic with Captain Jim. Enjoy frightful food and drink samples from your favorite hot spots from around the Triangle!
Head to the Magic Wings Butterfly “House of Haunts” to meet some of our resident “creepy-crawlies” and race cockroaches in the Insectarium, then test your bravery with a game of “What’s in the Box?” Trick or treat your senses with haunting illusions and daunting phobias. Dive into anxiety with experts from Bull City Anxiety, chat with our experts from the Association of Paranormal Study and get brainy with Dr. Kirkpatrick from the UNC Bowles Center. Challenge your friends in our spooky relay, launch ghost rockets, get crafty with Hearth Collective and much more! Are you afraid of the dark? Take an ominous train ride on the Ellerbe Creek Railway or see if you can make it through our eerie Dino Trail – at night.
Hollywood Taco Shop and Trash Talk food trucks will be on site with food for purchase; you may bring their deliciously evil delights into the museum. Beer, wine, and our “Bloody Punch” mocktail will be available at our cash bar. All money raised from this event will benefit our conservation and education initiatives, which help inspire lifelong learning at the Museum.
