From Here On: Shaping Our Future

This immersive, interactive experience invites visitors to explore the possibilities of a world we might build together. With both indoor and outdoor activations, this exhibit aims to encourage conversation and collaboration with guests of all ages.

Focused on the future of our planet, the exhibit addresses two of the most pressing challenges and opportunities of our time: climate and sustainability. In this exhibit space, the Museum builds on its trusted role in science education to help visitors better understand our changing environment while imagining pathways toward a more sustainable and equitable future.

We want to give a special thanks to our incredible donors, including the voters of Durham County, Burt’s Bees Foundation, and The Jandy Ammons Foundation, who helped bring this important exhibit to life.

Science On a Sphere®

How Should The Future Sound?

This musical interactive runs on data from en-Roads, a MIT climate modeling tool used by the Youth Climate Summits. Choose a future for the Earth by turning dials representing human choices. The music responds with shifts in pitch, timbre, and mood.
