Party for the Planet
May 30
10 am – 3 pm
Included with admission
Reflect on the Spring into Action month and celebrate the work that we can all contribute to support our planet’s biodiversity! Learn from experts from the community and Museum staff, and synthesize the topics from the whole month of programming.
Join us to:
- Turn trash into treasure; craft instruments and decorations with recycled materials.
- Get your hands dirty with some messy nature play to celebrate the planet we call home.
- Try your hand at some nature-inspired art with help from local artist Stacy Lewis.
- Learn from the Durham Master Gardeners how to support local wildlife, whether it be with a yard, a balcony, or a windowsill!
- Cheer, march, and dance in special Parades for the Planet at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm!

Earth Day is April 22, and it’s also the kickoff for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Party for the Planet: Spring into Action, a yearly celebration encouraging folks to create habitats, reduce and clean up litter, and get outdoors!
Here at the Museum of Life and Science, we have a constant commitment to conservation education and action. We’re bringing some of our green events and programs to the forefront during this season to celebrate Party for the Planet alongside the many other participating AZA organizations. Learn more about the Durham Bioblitz with us and visit each week this May to explore different green topics with hands-on activities!
