Make a splash with us this Watermelon Day! We celebrate National Watermelon Day every year in August to celebrate the sweet summer treat and share how our animals beat the heat. This year, you can beat the heat too, with some special activities!

We will be feeding our animals watermelon treats at Animal Care programs throughout the day! There will also be watermelon-themed enrichment placed in animal exhibits for a variety of our animals to enjoy. Check out our Insectarium and Butterfly House for watermelon enrichment.

Come to any of these special watermelon sessions:

• 10 am: Bears
• 11 am: Farmyard
• 1:30 pm: Farmyard
• 2 pm: Lemurs and Radiated Tortoise
• 3 pm: Bears

Want to see how many rubber bands can make a watermelon explode? Come see us in Gateway Park. Donate a watermelon so our Animal Care Staff can treat our animals to watermelon all summer – and so you can add to our rubberband extravaganza. There will be a donation cart set up next to our table in Gateway Park.
