Celebrate Latine Hispanic Heritage Month in The Lab! Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am – 12 pm and 1 – 3 pm, there’s something for all ages to discover!
Join us as we continue to celebrate Spanish language, science, and culture with scientists and experts throughout Latine Hispanic Heritage Month.
September 30 – October 3: Rust or Bust – Investigate the chemical reactions behind the Nazca lines and make your own iron oxide artwork
October 3, 1 pm – 3 pm: Join archaeologist and epigrapher Dr. Gabrielle Vail and Morehead Planetarium’s Dr. Amy Sayle for Incan/Peruvian star stories and record-keeping


October 7 – 9: Keeping Time- Create your own Maya calendar round and mark your birthday with glyph stamps
October 10: Meet Dr. Jessica Vélez Avilés and learn how she and her students in the UNCCH Department of Linguistics study language and the brain using eye-tracking technology, explore the importance of bilingualism in our communities, and test your knowledge of English and Spanish dialects

October 11, 10 am – 12 pm: Meet Solvias Senior Virology Analyst Liz Albertorio Sáez to test out some of the tools of the biotech trade and try your hand at “pipette target-practice”
