Welcome Martha and Oka

Welcome male Red Wolf Oka (M2048) and female Martha (F2242) to the Museum. Both wolves, while not yet fully acclimated to their new habitat, are doing well. The pair arrived from the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY, late on Monday, October 21, and were released into the side holding area of the habitat.

Here’s some photos to perhaps help you figure out who’s who when you stop by to wish them well. Among various distinguishing characteristics they’re both rather darkly pelaged individuals. And, you might notice the obviously droopy ears of our male Oka, a dead giveaway to his identity.

Martha (F2242), female.

When I arrived Tuesday morning on my routine rounds Oka was already inspecting, sniffing and scratching his way through the new abode shared by the paired wolves. Later in the afternoon, Martha was also out having a look around.

There’ll be more photos posted in the future.

Stop by often.
