30×30: Art, Nature & Science

Art to inspire conservation action

Open March 25 through July 16!

The Museum of Life and Science presents 30×30: Art, Nature & Science, a juried art show a juried art show inspired by the 30×30 global initiative. This exhibit will showcase more than 40 works of art submitted to celebrate the ways in which nature inspires art. The artwork conveys a love of and concern for the natural world and looks to inspire advocacy to protect land, air, water, and biodiversity.

This exhibit is located on the first floor of the main building next to Gizmo Garage.

The Museum is proud to be a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). AZA is boldly campaigning to protect 30% of Earth’s land, waters, and oceans by 2030. This idea of 30% by 2030 is a core principle behind this artistic showcase. Using nature as inspiration, artists created works to be displayed for the show’s duration.

The exhibit will be judged by representatives from the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Nasher Museum of Art, and the Museum of Life and Science, with three $1,000 prizes awarded: the Director’s Prize, Artists’ Prize, and Visitors’ Prize.

Museum visitors are encouraged to participate by voting for their favorite work of art during their visit. The winner of the Visitors’ Prize will be announced later this spring.
